Here I am blogging while half the grade is having the time of their lives at Trivia Night :(
Well, believe it or not, but it's already been 2 weeks since Mum and Hingis left so yes..
THEY ARE COMING BACK TOMORROW ! :D
Seriously, I am so excited and happy for tomorrow right now, for multiple reasons:
1. I can finally eat proper food
2. I can finally have someone close-by to gossip with
3. I can finally receive all the amazing gifts they bought for me in China
4. I can finally concentrate more on studying (slacked off so much once Mum left)
5. I can finally hear all the scary, funny and embarassing stories I'm pretty sure Hingis has to share
6. I can finally get back home at 3:30PM and not 4:00PM (more time to eat)
The downside? I have to go back to sleep in my own bed. Which means, I have to clear up the mountain of textbooks and notes on the bed. Also, it would probably feel like I'm sleeping on a hard rock compared to my mum's bed :( OH WELL, at least they'll be back! :)
I still haven't filled in my UAC application yet D: Now that Medicine is definitely out of the picture (not saying this because I have no confidence in myself, but because I got told off by someone to think more realistically), I really have my fingers crossed for Optom at UNSW. If not that..then most likely Advanced Science, majoring in Vision Science. So as you can see, I really want to get into Optom. I actually wouldn't mind becoming a Primary School teacher, I love children! But dad says there aren't many "rich" asian boys who study Primary Education and so I should stay close with my Medical friends so I get invited to their parties and meet hot doctors LOL (my parents are a tad crazy) Pretty sure they were joking anyway.
Aw man, why do they have to make 17/18-year-olds decide their own future.
Well, there's roughly 2 weeks until Graduation.
I.AM.NOT.READY.FOR.THIS.
As much as I want this HSC nightmare to end, I don't want to graduate from high school. Do you know how sad my life would be, in the first few months after graduation? VERY SAD. Just the thought of not seeing my wonderful grade every, single day is sickening. And I'm not being cheesy here, but I would be a totally different person if it weren't for my peers of HAHS Class of 2012. AW MAN, getting emotional here. Better stop, tonight is durian night and I better not ruin it with my tears.
I've been getting into a lot of James Morrison songs lately. HIS VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL. When I look for male song artists, most of them have a husky-ish voice. Don't know why, but I guess it gives their songs character.
On an end note..
^ I've had this song on repeat for the last few days. Check out the MV :D
HEY GUYSSSSSS!!!!!
Haven't blogged for a while. I thank you all for I got heaps of views on my cool guys hahahahahahah!!!!!! I will forever use joki for advertising. ANYWAYS back to the topic
Chilling out on head
MA BUDGIES
I don't wanna write that much. I don't know how joki types so much words when I took forever to write this sentence. SOOOOOOOO...... LOng story short.
What you looking at
1.GOT A CUTE BUDGIE!!!!! THe guy said if we wanted another blue budgie we would have to wait a week so we decided to do that cause blue is pretty. Apparently these budgies are rare. They cost $30 But are well worth it. Cause this budgie was so affectionate, it would rub its head on your cheek and once I swore it said hello back when i repeated hello many times. It is male and is called JURTJURT bird bird in chinese. Kinda weird but my mom thought of it.
2. HOMECOMING!!!!!! 2 newbudgies who are sisters coming home.YAYYYYYYYY
3.JURT JURT all alone staring at mirror
3. When they came home it was a sight to see. WOOOOOOO THey were so happy and jurt jurt wasn't alone anymore so happy ;']
BUT THEN DUNDUNDUNNNNNNN...... JURT JURT hurt his foot somehow sooooo sad..... HIm chilling out on grasss responding to bird calls recorded on camera.
When jurtjurt looking at mirror joki secretly flipped it and took a pic
Jurt jurt loved looking at the dogs even though Cadbry attacks him.
4.Jurt jurt was brought back to the breeder who said he could heal him, but it would probably take a few months cause he gotta massage its foot every day. We exchanged him for his brother. Once jurt jurt was put with his parents his mom didn't care but his dad pushed him over to eat food. SOOOOO KAWAIIIIII!!!!!! BUt unfortunately his brother isn't as affectionate. ALLLL WELLLLL!!!!! Cannot wait to see if they have babies.BElow pic of my 3 birds. THe male on the left and sisters on the right. The male is more small and different colour. We might be able to buy jurt jurt back after he has healed.fingers crossed =]=]=]]]]]]=]=]=]
LASTLY I would like to send a shout out to my biggest fan Kat!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BYEBYEBYEBYEBYEBEYBEYBYEBYEBYE
To celebrate dear mumma's birthday, the Li Family took a trip to Yum Cha at Hurstville (or..pronounced by full-on-asian-adults "hurseeevill") As expected, since we went on a Saturday, the place was packed full of screaming Asian babies and aunties yelling out their orders to the trolley ladies. So, we ordered the usual favourites but also tried out a new dish! All in all, yum cha = da besttttt :D
char siew bor law bao (pork pineapple bun)
Ok, this HAS to be the best combo ever made. It is basically your standard pork bun put together with a pineapple bun to form this heavenly goodness :9 It is crispy on the outside with hot pork in the middle. YUM!
chiu chow fun gor (chiu chow dumpling)
This is my dad's absolute favourite yum cha dish which he orders EVERY single time we go out to yum cha. He says this restaurant cooks it the best. I never eat it though, nor does my sister..or mum, so usually my dad just eats the entire 'loong' HAHA
lul lin so (durian pastry)
OK LADIES AND GENTS, THIS HAS GOT TO BE MY #2 FAVOURITE DISH OF ALL TIME (you'll see why it's #2 later). This restaurant is the only place where I've ever found this delightful durian dish, which makes me name this yum cha place the #1 place for me to go! If you're lucky, like me, you get it steaming hot once it reaches your table. A light, crispy pastry wraps the warm durian meat (ok meat sounds weird) on the inside, as demonstrated by the photo of the cracked open lul lin so. I don't know who thought up this dish, but they must know how to get to my heart <3
saan jook ngau yook (beef balls with bamboo shoots)
So, ever since I could remember, I have always eaten this at yum cha. I remember experiencing the excitement of cutting the beef ball with my chopsticks into 4 distinct quarters and using a toothpick to stab each piece and plop it into my mouth HEHE. Ok if you ever order this dish, ALWAYS ask for the 'geep tsup' (some asian sauce)
fung zhow (chicken feet)
WOOT WOOT, so here's my #1 yum cha dish of ALL TIME! Some of you (a minority..I hope) might go "eww why would you eat chicken feet?" Well you know what my answer would be? IT'S COS I'M CHINESE. Like seriously, how can you not like the succulent meat? Ok, I won't go into detail on how you eat this (cos it might sound weird) But I don't think anyone could ever eat chicken feet with any sense of elegance heh. Even my mum knows it's my favourite, she always asks for it whenever we go yum cha :)
ngau gun (beef tendons)
This is a dish which I have never ordered before, nor has my parents. But on a whim, mum decided to order it and so..I tried it. IT WAS SO YUMMY! I personally don't like the harder, less chewy ones. The really soft ones feels like they melt in your mouth :3 Hingis said she felt sorry for the cows, cos we even eat their tendons LOL. Will definitely order this dish next time I go!
ngau lei so ("cow tongue" pastry)
I have no idea why they're called "cow tongues"..maybe they resemble cow tongues? But anyhoo, they have nothing to do with the tongues of cows! They're just fried pieces of sweet bread which have a crunchy exterior and a soft interior. They're reaaaally addictive but so small! In Hong Kong, they're twice the size that they are in Sydney and taste even better!
To the lady who has made me the young woman I am today,
I don't care how cheesy it sounds, I'm just gonna say it: I don't know how I would live without you.
Whenever I'm met with obstacles in life, you're always there to help me leap over them. Whenever I need a shoulder to cry on, your shoulder would be next to me in an instant. Whenever I'm hungry, you cook magical dishes of food to fill my never-ending stomach. Whenever I don't understand something, you always explain it to me until I'm not confused anymore. Whenever I need advice, I always come to you and tell you absolutely EVERYTHING..even though you might make an annoyed face at me, you can't help but help me anyway.
My dear maamee, you are my #1 role model in life and I aspire to be a wonderful mother like you when it's my turn in life to take on that role. If only you could be with me until the very end and accompany me to heaven, but even now, I'm content. You have made such an impact on my life and whenever you laugh, I laugh..COS YOUR LAUGH IS JUST SO CONTAGIOUS :')
I know I've made you upset and stressed countless times, whether it be about the decisions I make or the academic results I reap, but I always hear you telling other people that your two daughters are the best two things in your life and that we're very well-behaved hehe :)
I hope to ultimately return ALL the favours you have given me. I thank God everyday that you're the one who gave birth to me all those years ago, I'm just so blessed :')
I wish you many MANY more birthdays to come and hope that I'll be by your side on each occasion! All my love, From your most awesome daughter, Joki
These past 2 weeks = hell. At first...it wasn't too bad with English and 2U + 3U BUUUT then came the sciences and the double-ups. Let's just say, I hope I learnt a lesson from this terrible cramming-before-an-exam nightmare and not do it in the actual HSC.. HEH
Well, my other half (HINGES) is currently at camp..in Canberra..for the next 3 days?! OMGAH how am I gonna survive these next 3 days as an ONLY child? Well tonight wasn't so bad, mum cooked chicken drumsticks BUT BESIDES THAT..the house is unbelievably quiet right now D: cos she's not here for me to yell at, HEHE
Well, tonight is gonna be a fambam (-1) movie night and tomorrow, mum said she's gonna take me out formal shopping :D YAYAY well, I already have a dress..but I can't fit it. I'm so sad :( I THOUGHT THIS EXAM PERIOD WAS GONNA BE UBER-STRESSFUL AND MAKE ME LOSE WEIGHT but unfortunately, I did nothing. In fact, I think I gained. Here's a convo I had with my mum the other day:
So, if you didn't know..me and a friend (whom I dragged along heh) went to the Matrix Education Chemistry Holiday Revision Course WOooOoooO. We went for 5 days (Mon-Fri) out in the city and my, those 5 days went FAST. I know people say "time goes by quickly when you're having fun"...I don't even know if I actually had fun HAHA The teacher was really nice and helpful! She spoke real fast though..such a genius. Bachelor of Chemistry and Biology man..I wish I knew Chemistry like her. So lemme break down the 5 days of Chemistry goodness for ya.
felt like i spent more time here than at home..srsly
MONDAY: Got a ride at Liverpool Stn with Helena HaHA to the city and back. Her little sister is so cute omgaaah, i love children (not a pedo). Got dropped off at the building at Clarence St and took the lift up to level 4 where Matrix was and when the lift doors opened..WOW. They have tinted glass for classroom walls! I think it's used to attract the attention of bored students and make them wanna come here and spend their money on tutoring LOL. They gave out free pens and rulers and me being the cheap Asian took 2 pens of course hurhur. Our teacher got started on Production of Materials and WOOOOOSH, the lesson ended. Seriously, it went by so quickly..we went through like 60/99 pages in one 3 hour lesson, thank da lord they gave out free chocolate and lollies to keep us awake TUESDAY: HEH I decided to catch the train by myself and my parents encouraged it..my dad going: JOKI, YOU ARE A MATURE AND GROWN-UP GIRL NOW. GO CATCH THE TRAIN YOURSELF. Nearly missed the train at Ingleburn and got lost twice in the city..don't laugh man, it was my first time going to the city by myself, scariest day of my life. By the time i got to the Matrix centre, heaps of the seats were already taken cos of the bio people before..so i made Helena sit next to one of the boys hurhur sorry Helena, he seemed like a nice boy. We went through the rest of Production of Materials and by the end of the lesson, had already done half of Acidic Environment WOOO
WEDNESDAY:
Bought coffee to keep me awake
Now that I was
more experienced with train-catching to Museum, i confidently brought a
whole heap of study notes, maths questions and UMAT to do on the
train..cos i realised the amount of studying I DIDN'T do in the first
week of holidays and started to stress. Got to Glenfield Stn and surprise surprise!Saw my good
friend (and ex-HAHS student, soon-to-be-doctor) Christopher Leuuung! Seeing him
just ruined my day..HAHA kidding old man! He later on sent me a text which
really cheered me up about my marks/ranks, it just made me feel really good to
know that someone has that much faith in me :D Anyway, after that encounter, I
met Kat at Padstow and OH HO HO, you guys should've seen her. She looked so pro
in her makeup and outfit, like a pro businesswomen (Y) We went to Maccas to
finally use our Big Mac vouchers from Red Shield Appeal, then we parted waaays.
Tutor: went through the rest of Acidic Environment and they told us if we wore
a scarf on Friday, we would get free pizza BOOYAH
THURSDAY:
Was
accompanied by my mum and sister before tutor to go eating at the $2.50 sushi
train at Market City! OMG if you ever go there, order their soft-shell crab,
soo good :9 Went to Cotton On and mum found a pair of $2 shorts for me, aw
yeah. MUM = ULTIMATE SHOPPING BUDDY. We then decided to have some much needed
exercise and walked from Chinatown to QVB! So they dropped me off at Matrix and
went to have fun walking around the city for 3 hours.
OK GUYS..I
know I shouldn't be checking guys out at tutor..cos of how much I had to pay.
BUT there was one Sydney Boys student who caught my eye hurhur. It was through
this one occurrence which led me to become interested in him. You see, I was
saving a seat for Helena cos she was late (as per usual) but then, the boy
(let's call him SBB = Sydney Boys Boy for short HA just realised it's the same
as banh's initials when i typed it..sorry Simon Banh) he plopped down in
Helena's seat and started unpacking. I then went to him "Sorry! But I'm
saving this seat for a friend.." And he goes "Oh, I'm sorry! It's
okay, don't worry, I got plenty of other options to sit in the room."
..but there wasn't D: he ended up sitting away from his friends. I'M SUCH A HORRIBLE
PERSON, but pls..bros before hoes and yes in this case, SBB is a hoe and I'm a
man. But he ended up sitting right in front of me, so he asked me chem
questions..and i actually knew the answer to them :3 WOOHOO
Tutor: Went through half of Chem M&M, man the lessons are quick
FRIDAY:
LAAAAST DAY!
Caught the earlier train so I could spare some time to go to Kinokuniya to buy
a picture book for English AOS: Belonging cos I love English that much (LOL no,
heavy sarcasm right there peeps)
Got up to Matrix like half an hour earlier to get my free pizza, with my scarf ready to go around my neck..BUT I GUESS THE BIOLOGY PEOPLE ARE BIG PIGS. Yeah that's right, they ate most of the pizza already and the left-over pizza was COLD and HARD. SERIOUSLY?! I LEFT MY STOMACH EMPTY..FOR ICKY PIZZA? Hell no. ISJOAJOSJAS it left me so hungry that entire lesson, lucky they gave out free cupcakes and chocolate at the end -endrant- Anyway, so the teacher rushed the last bit of Chem M&M and before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to Matrix. OMG also, i had another run-in with SBB -GIGASIGH- (as wilson would say) Before the lesson started that day, he was gonna sit in my seat but he noticed my blazer on the seat and said he was sorry again and moved away. HE'S SUCH A GENTLEMAN. Maybe he'll be sitting the UMAT next week..JIMMY BE FRIENDS WITH HIM ALREADY!!
I realised I was uber-hungry cos of the absence of pizza in my stomach (damn you Matrix) so I went to Hungry Jacks on my way to Museum Stn and bought a 50c soft serve :9
Wow, just realised how long this post was. But I'll include this last recount about what happened yesterday. So, me and the family were going to Yum Cha at Cabra and I decided to text Clement and Chris good luck with their performance at the Ignite the Cause Concert at PCYC. Clement being the ultimate pedo then suggested to meet-up cos my sister was there as well HAHA So after a long line of texts and credit going into space, I decided to go meet up with the boys in front of PCYC before their big performance with A2N's comeback :D Man, I didn't know how much I'd missed them until I saw them and gave them hugs :') So me and Chris had our traditional height-measuring (we do it everytime we see each other) and no surprise there, he's taller than me now. DUH, there would be something wrong with you if you aren't taller than me Chris :L so Clement just stood there..awkwardly, cos he's short HAHA sorry Sierra :L We then laughed a lot, did a lot of teasing (from them..not me D:) and I wished them luck one last time, too bad I couldn't watch it. But judging from the videos people made, they were EPIC :D You guys made me proud :')
Here's the video if you're like me and missed the amazing dance :)
